For this year’s annual canvass of the electoral register we are introducing the use of emails to contact some households (where we hold an email address) in the first instance. This will reduce the cost of the canvass that we are required to conduct.

The first batch of emails went out late last week and, as suspected, we have had some calls and queries about whether the emails are genuine. With that in mind I should be grateful if you could help us to keep residents informed and encourage them to respond.

The email address we’re sending them from is:

electoral.services.maidstone.borough.council@notifications.service.gov.uk

The title of this first email is: “Maidstone Borough Council – Check and update your details on the Electoral register now – ACTION REQUIRED”

If you are contacted please do inform residents of this and encourage them to respond immediately to help with the canvass. But please do also make sure they check the address to give them confidence before responding.

For other residents that we are canvassing who will receive hardcopy letters or forms through the door, please let them know that if they do provide an email address we can contact them via email in future.
